Highland Heather

The first in what will (hopefully!) be a series, Highland Heather is a painting inspired by our amazing two weeks in the Scottish Highlands, in the summer of 2021.

 

Hiking in the Cairngorms and later in the hills near Peebles, I was in awe of the dramatic landscapes and stunning patterns of colours created by heather on the hillsides. This painting is a composition of those happy memories.

Materials: High-quality Old Holland oil pigments, Winsor & Newton Oil Color Medium, and a Cotton Deep Edge Canvas.
