Poppy Field
102 x 77cm Impasto Oil on Canvas
Sold
I've always considered poppies as a symbol of a warming spring, and a herald of summer. They bloom in my favourite time of year and I've been keen to paint them for a long time.
Not only was this my first attempt at painting poppies, it was also the first painting where I employed impasto to produce flower petals which stand out from the canvas, a technique which I've continued to use since.
Size: 102 x 77cm (40 x 30inch)
Materials: High-quality Old Holland oil pigments, Winsor & Newton Oil Color Medium, and a Cotton Deep Edge Canvas.
