Shaftesbury Sunset

​A couple of years ago we did Christmas in a beautiful cottage in North Devon (I still need to paint something from that trip!) and on our drive back home, we stopped to see one of the steepest streets in England - Gold Hill in Shaftesbury.

Unfortunately, I had to imagine how it would look like in the lovely evening light because it was incredibly foggy on that day and the surrounding countryside looked absolutely miserable! :) 

That being said, the town was still very charming and the famous (and very steep!) Gold Hill street still looked beautiful. I really enjoyed interpreting it in a different light.

Size: 80 x 80cm

Materials: High-quality Old Holland oil pigments, Winsor & Newton oil colour medium and impasto, on a mounted, bleached cotton canvas, 2.5cm deep.
